I have just published the first version of the AKOSMA Training Store at https://akosma.store, which will feature my production of training material and sessions. To celebrate the opening of the store, all items in the store have a 15% off discount until the 31st of January!
The most important feature of the store is country tiers per HDI. I want to make my material as accessible as possible to developers throughout the world, while at the same time building a sustainable business. So I have decided to have three price tiers in the store, based on the Human Development Index published by the United Nations Development Programme. My aim is to help developers wherever they are, providing them with interesting, entertaining material to learn more about software development and mobile applications.
How do these tiers work?
- Customers living in countries with a HDI bigger or equal than 0.9 are invoiced 100% of the price of my items. At the time of this writing, this tier includes the following countries: Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the Republic of Ireland, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
- Customers living in countries with an HDI between 0.8 and 0.9 are invoiced 80%. This includes most of Western Europe, Argentina, Chile, South Korea, and most Middle East countries.
- Finally, customers from all other countries are invoiced 60% of the price.
That is it. No DRM, no strings attached, no fuzzy calculations. This structure applies to all items on the store, whether they are trainings, books, or other items. This means that if you are a developer living in France (Tier 2) who wants to attend my trainings in Switzerland, you only pay 80% of the price. If you live in India and would like to buy my book “Android for iOS Developers” you will only pay 60% of the price.
